The students wrote an acrostic poem about volcanoes to go along with their paintings. While we were learning about volcanoes, we learned about non-fiction text features and the kids were able to cut out these features and make posters that went up on our bulletin board to teach other students about these non-fiction text features. We also read two short chapter books about Mount St. Helens in Washington and Mount Vesuvius in Pompeii.
