Welcome to 6th Grade Science!
"Every Day Is A Fresh Start!"
I wholeheartedly believe that everyone needs a fresh start each day to become a successful human being and I strive to give that to my students. We all make mistakes, but we need to learn from them and allow them to make us better! Although many mistakes have consequences that may last multiple days, each day they walk through the door, my students have a fresh start to make that day an amazing day and I hope they give me the same, because I will also have bad days!
Classwork and Homework
Classwork will consist of Evidence Notebooks and our workbook Text. Homework will consist of any unfinished classwork, occasional lab reports, and weekly concept practice.
Completed and Graded Work
It is a student and parent's responsibility to check PowerSchool to see grades on work and overall grade in Science. If you are not happy with a score, students are encouraged to continue working on assignments to improve. The most important reason for doing this is to increase the understanding of the skill or topic. Please ask if you are unsure on what you need to improve.
When it comes to tests or quizzes, retakes are only allowed on closed-note assessments.
Make-Up Work
Students who are absent on the day of an assessment are allowed to make up missing assessments. If they do not meet proficiency on their first attempt, they will be allowed the opportunity to retake that assessment. Retakes and make-ups must be taken within 2 weeks of the original assignment date. The students is ultimately responsible for requesting and arranging to retake the assessment.
Late and Missing Work
Late work needs to be turned in to the teacher in a timely manner. Due dates will be established by the teacher. Work that is more than two weeks overdue will not be accepted without making prior arrangements with me and will become a zero in PowerSchool.
